Sarawak Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Roadmap Workshop

URBANICE Malaysia organized the Sarawak Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Roadmap Workshop in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government (MPHLG) Sarawak and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). It took place on the 27th and 28th of July 2022 at the Raia Convention Hotel in Kuching. The workshops bring together all local governments in Sarawak to interact, exchange ideas, and plan for Sarawak's sustainable future.

UNIMAS and Kota Samarahan Local Council in Kota Samarahan Clean, Safe and Green Programme

In 2022, UNIMAS also collaborated with Kota Samarahan local council to initiate a program aimed at enhancing the cleanliness, safety, and greenery of the city. (News Link)

UNIMAS have been actively initiating and engaging in cross-sectoral dialogues concerning the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as conferences that involve government representatives and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). These collaborative discussions are integral to our commitment to advancing the SDGs and fostering cooperation among stakeholders.

At UNIMAS, we are deeply committed to promoting meaningful education about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across our university. We have taken the initiative to align every Course Learning Outcome with the corresponding SDGs, thereby ensuring the relevance and applicability of these global objectives to all our students.

Service Learning Malaysia - University for Society (SULAM)

SULAM (Service Learning Malaysia - University for Society) is one of the High-Impact Educational Practices (HIEPs) outlined in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025. SULAM is a teaching and learning approach that integrates course learning objectives with community service, in which students interact with the community to solve local problems using the knowledge and skills learned in lectures. All UNIMAS students will participate in SULAM at least once during their studies. SULAM has a credit value, and the hours of community service count toward the total number of hours students study for the appropriate course. Among the objectives of SULAM are to improve student learning by connecting theory with practice in the real world; Improve character, civic skills and citizenship among students and to fulfill the needs of the community through volunteering activities by using the 'expertise' of students according to the discipline.
