Student Representative Council (MPP)

The UNIMAS Student Representative Council (MPP) consists of 16 UNIMAS students who have been entrusted to represent students for their respective programs. MPP acts as an intermediary between students and the management in addition to organizing activities that are beneficial for UNIMAS students. In addition to being a student representative, the MPP is also responsible for safeguarding the welfare and rights of students in an effort to produce students who are superior in terms of personality and academics in line with the MPP’s slogan.

The Certificate Presentation Ceremony for the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Student Representative Council (MPP) Session 2025/2026 was held on 10 November 2025 at the Staff Lounge, Rumah Universiti. The ceremony served as a symbolic recognition and official appointment of the newly elected student leaders, who will represent the voices and interests of UNIMAS students for the 2025/2026 session. The university also expressed its highest appreciation to the previous MPP leadership for their dedication, contributions, and commitment throughout their term, which supported various high-impact initiatives benefiting both the student community and the university. The new leadership is expected to continue this legacy of excellence and strengthen university-student relations.

Collaborative Efforts towards Community Sustainability: UNIMAS Semera Lestari 2024

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) successfully held the Semera Lestari Programme on 30 November 2024 in conjunction with the One Leader One Village (Santuni Madani) initiative at Kampung Semera. The programme aimed to strengthen the connection between the university and the local community through education, innovation, and sustainable development activities.

Various activities were organised, including health screenings, agrotech workshops, community discussions, and product branding sessions. The event highlighted UNIMAS’s ongoing commitment to empowering local communities and promoting sustainable growth through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

UNIMAS Leads the Fight Against Corruption Through Youth Empowerment

The International Anti-Corruption Day (HARA) 2024 Sarawak Zone was held at UNIMAS, highlighting the vital role of youth in combating corruption from its roots. Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr. Juanda Jaya, encouraged young people to harness modern technology as a tool for change in the fight against corruption.

UMS and UNIMAS Provide Expert Insights for National Price Stabilization Policy

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) have been appointed to conduct a six-month study on price stabilization of essential goods in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. The initiative aims to find long-term solutions to ensure fair and stable prices for key household items.

Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, said the study supports the Madani framework and will help the government design better policies to ease the cost of living. The collaboration highlights the important role of universities in supporting community and economic development.

Development Planning & Management Program CARE PROJECT

From 24 to 30 November 2024, 100 third-year students from the Development Planning and Management Program carried out the CARE Project in Betong, hosted by five longhouses in the Layar region.

The project focused on food security and sustainable waste management, giving students practical experience in community engagement and sustainable development while fostering collaboration with local communities and agencies like SEDC.

National Space Camp 2024: Unveilling the Future of Malaysia's Space Exploration

The National Space Camp 2024 marks a major step forward in Malaysia’s journey toward space exploration. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Apadilangit, organized by Langit Kita Sdn. Bhd., at the MIGHT Partnership Hub, Cyberjaya, witnessed by YB Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation.

The event aims to support Malaysia’s Space Exploration Mission 2030 and the Human Capital Development in the Space Industry Strategic Plan 2030, promoting collaboration, innovation, and talent development in the nation’s growing space sector.

Gen Z's Forum on Malaysian Politics

The Gen Z Forum on Malaysian Politics, held on 19 November 2024, was part of FSSH’s Gen Z Series and provided a platform for young Malaysians to discuss and understand current political issues. Organized by third-year students from the Politics and Government Program, the hybrid event took place both in the FSSH Conference Room and via live streaming on TikTok and Instagram.

The forum encouraged active youth participation in political discourse, featuring engaging discussions, insightful questions, and expert panelists. It successfully inspired participants to stay informed and contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s political future.
