SDG 16: "Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions" works to create peaceful and fair societies, ensure access to justice, and build effective and accountable institutions at all levels. This goal involves reducing violence, obeying the law, prevent corruption, and improving accountable governance. 
UNIMAS  prioritizes university governance measures, fostering transparency, accountability, and fairness within its institution. These governance practices promote an environment of trust and integrity, aligning with the principles of peace and justice. Furthermore, UNIMAS collaborates closely with government agencies, both locally and nationally, to address societal challenges and contribute to the development of strong and effective institutions.

Student Representative Council (MPP)

The UNIMAS Student Representative Council (MPP) consists of 16 UNIMAS students who have been entrusted to represent students for their respective programs. MPP acts as an intermediary between students and the management in addition to organizing activities that are beneficial for UNIMAS students. In addition to being a student representative, the MPP is also responsible for safeguarding the welfare and rights of students in an effort to produce students who are superior in terms of personality and academics in line with the MPP’s slogan.

The Certificate Presentation Ceremony for the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Student Representative Council (MPP) Session 2025/2026 was held on 10 November 2025 at the Staff Lounge, Rumah Universiti. The ceremony served as a symbolic recognition and official appointment of the newly elected student leaders, who will represent the voices and interests of UNIMAS students for the 2025/2026 session. The university also expressed its highest appreciation to the previous MPP leadership for their dedication, contributions, and commitment throughout their term, which supported various high-impact initiatives benefiting both the student community and the university. The new leadership is expected to continue this legacy of excellence and strengthen university-student relations.

Provide expert advice to government

UMS and UNIMAS Provide Expert Insights for National Price Stabilization Policy

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) have been appointed to conduct a six-month study on price stabilization of essential goods in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. The initiative aims to find long-term solutions to ensure fair and stable prices for key household items.

Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, said the study supports the Madani framework and will help the government design better policies to ease the cost of living. The collaboration highlights the important role of universities in supporting community and economic development.
