SDG 1 : No Poverty
SDG 1, “No Poverty” aims to eliminate every form of poverty including the lack of food, clean drinking water, and sanitation. Achieving this goal is finding solutions to the new causes of poverty.
In order to achieve this SDG objective, UNIMAS provide the indicators to measure progress based on the solutions which has been conducted through research, education, and community participation. UNIMAS target the students who fall into the bottom 20% of household income group which is students from low or lower-middle income and will be further supported. UNIMAS also doing collaboration with the government and the non-government organization to work with the local communities on financially assisting and knowledge development initiatives through relevant education and resources (e.g., mentorship programmes, training workshops, access to university facilities)

Local start-up assistance
UNIMAS has been providing assistance and supports for the local community in fostering the growth of financially and socially sustainable businesses through dissemination of knowledge and training workshops.
UNIMAS encourages and empowers students to start their own businesses through the UNIMAS Entrepreneurship Centre. Students who own a business are encouraged to register it with Syarikat Siswa UNIMAS (SSU). Those who register with SSU will receive benefits such as entrepreneurship training, access to business grants, and networking opportunities.
